Governor Hobbs signs executive order expanding access to COVID vaccines

News • September 12, 2025

We are very happy to announce that Governor Hobbs has signed an executive order expending access to COVID vaccines in Arizona.  The order references recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) that encourage vaccination of ALL people 6 months and older who want to receive a COVID vaccine.  This goes against current guidance by the CDC which indicates that for people under 65, only those with risk factors are recommended to be vaccinated.  There have been vague and inconsistent references to “shared decision making” for people without risk factors but Governor Hobbs’ executive order solidifies this recommendation for Arizonans, allowing vaccination for all who are interested, regardless of whether they have a risk factor.  Mesquite Pediatrics has decided to follow the guidance from Governor Hobbs as we have always been in agreement with the AAP, ACOG, and AAFP and feel COVID vaccine should be available to everyone.  See our Pediatric Services page for more details and to learn how to schedule.
