Caring for children is our specialty.
Pediatricians receive special training in the health and illnesses of infants, children, teens, and young adults. We provide preventive health care for children in good health, medical care for children with chronic conditions such as ADHD or asthma, newborn care, sick visits, vision and hearing services, and more. We also provide parents with support and advice with issues such as growth and development, safety and prevention, nutrition, and emotional wellness to foster a lifetime of good health.
Well-Child Exams
Well-child exams are a vital part of a child’s health care. These visits allow us to examine the child for overall health, growth, and development. We also discuss nutrition, sleep habits, and age-appropriate topics such as potty training, dental care, and safety issues. Regular wellness visits allow us to detect and address health problems before they become serious, or in some cases prevent them entirely!
Same-Day Sick Visits
We understand that children can become ill quickly and unexpectedly, so we reserve a portion of our daily schedule for sick children. Please call us to make a same-day appointment.
Vaccines Save Lives
Mesquite Pediatrics requires that all of our patients are immunized according to the current vaccine schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Please do not hesitate to contact our office with questions.

Mental Health Services
Your child’s mental health is just as important as their physical health. If they are struggling with mental health issues, it can impact their life and make it difficult to function on a daily basis. It’s important to talk to your child’s pediatrician about their mental health and identify the signs that your child may be struggling.
Your child may not always understand how to express their emotions and it’s important to be able to identify when they may need additional help navigating their mental health. If your child seems to be detached and isolated or if they act out often and have issues emoting, you may want to talk to us about assessing their mental health.
Depression
While it’s normal for kids to feel sad, down, or frustrated at times, it’s also important to recognize when these could be signs of depression. Yes, kids can deal with depression, too. While symptoms will vary, some of the most common ones include
- A decrease or increase in appetite
- Sleeping more or less than usual
- Withdrawing from social interactions
- Feeling sad or hopeless
- Low energy
- Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
- Physical ailments such as stomachaches that don’t seem to have a physical cause
- Trouble focusing
If these symptoms last for more than two weeks and interfere with your child’s school, home, or social life then it’s time to talk with us.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders in young children may sound surprising but they can occur in children under 12. Eating disorders can run in families, which means that if a parent or sibling has dealt with an eating disorder a child is significantly more likely to develop one.
Some signs of an eating disorder include
- Worry or concerns about body image
- Avoiding eating
- Reducing how much they eat
- Weight loss
- Slow growth and development
- Fear of stomach aches
If you’re concerned about eating habits in your child, this is something that you can and should bring up with a pediatrician right away. We can recommend therapy and other options to help improve your child’s relationship with food.
Anxiety
It’s natural for kids to feel nervous when they have to give a big presentation in front of the class or when visiting the dentist’s office. However, if your child is regularly fearful, anxious, worried, or afraid these could be telltale signs of anxiety. It isn’t always easy to spot anxiety.
In fact, some children may become irritable and angry as opposed to showing the typical symptoms we associate with anxiety. If your child’s anxiety is getting to them or holding them back, we are here to help.

Prenatal Visits
We encourage parents-to-be to visit our office for a complimentary prenatal appointment. This is a great way to get acquainted with our office and our doctors. During this visit, we will answer any questions that you have about our practice or your new child.
Delivery & First Checkup
We are the only private practice in Tucson that sees newborns in the hospital! If you deliver your baby at Tucson Medical Center, you can request a doctor from Mesquite Pediatrics to be your baby’s pediatrician and we will come to the hospital to see your newborn. Otherwise, regardless of which hospital you select, simply contact our office to establish your baby as a patient and schedule their first appointment.
